Diabetes is a serious disease that affects the body's ability to produce or respond properly to insulin, a hormone that allows blood glucose (sugar) to enter the cells of the body and be used for energy.  Diabetes education is offered for individuals with type 1, type 2 or gestational diabetes. Please call 573-783-2747 ext.3007 for more information or to schedule an appointment. Ask questions via email Betha.Mattingly@lpha.mo.gov.

Blood sugar screenings are provided through the fee for service program. It is best to have your blood sugar checked after fasting, nothing to eat or drink for at least 8 hours. This will give you a more accurate reading than if you have had something to eat. Please refer to the fee for service schedule to determine what you will have to pay for this service. This service available Monday-Friday 7:00 AM-5:30 PM.
